Mr. Biden's first two States of the Union were held in 2022 and 2023. His first speech as president, which came several months after his inauguration, was not technically a State of the Union, but rather an "Address to a Joint Session of Congress."

The 2023 State of the Union, which took place on Feb. 7, lasted 1 hour and 13 minutes, according to the American Presidency Project from University of California, Santa Barbara. Trump's remarks lasted a bit longer than his successor's. For his 2020 State of the Union, held Feb. 4, Trump spoke for 1 hour, 18 minutes and 4 seconds, according to the American Presidency Project. That address was marked by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tearing up a copy of Trump's remarks as he concluded.

His Feb. 5, 2019, speech lasted 1 hour, 22 minutes and 25 seconds, and Trump's Jan. 30, 2018, State of the Union was 1 hour, 20 minutes and 32 seconds, according to the American Presidency Project.
