Los Angeles Rams starting defensive back Derion Kendrick was arrested Monday morning, hours after the Rams win over the Arizona Cardinals, on felony gun possession, Los Angeles Police jail records show.
The 23-year-old Kendrick was pulled over for a traffic violation early Monday morning, and police found a gun in the vehicle, according to TMZ Sports. He was booked at 2:14 a.m. for the felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon, according to online jail records. As of Monday evening, Kendrick remains in custody.
Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed Kendrick's arrest Monday and said the team is "continuing to gather more information."
"Until then I’m just gonna leave it at that. Until I have all the appropriate information I don’t even think it’ll be appropriate for me to speak on things that I don’t have the totality of it," McVay said. "I know he was arrested early this morning and that’s kind of where we are at. Until I have all the information, it’s hard for me to answer anything further with regards to his status or any of those types of things."
The arrest came after the Rams' 26-9 home victory over the Cardinals Sunday afternoon. Kendrick started the contest and finished with two tackles while playing in 89% of the team's defensive snaps. Last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kendrick played every defensive snap.

Drafted in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia, Kendrick has played 21 games since his pro debut last year and has started every game for Los Angeles this season. In his career, he has 68 tackles, two tackles for loss and seven pass deflections.
